Trim a string using Perl


To trim a string in Perl, use the following subroutine - trim():


use strict;

sub trim($) {
    my $string = shift;
    $string =~ s/^\s+//;
    $string =~ s/\s+$//;
    return $string;

print trim ('    foo     ');
